Name: Brett Meyer
Hometown: Kendallville (Noble County)
University: Valparaiso University (undergrad) and IPFW (grad)
Major: Computer Science (BS) and Applied Computer Science (MS)
Graduation year: 2008 undergrad, 2010 grad
Why Brett decided to serve as a LSN project lead: We were all blessed with an enormous gift and opportunity. With that comes responsibility, especially to continue to give back to our local communities.
Plans for the LSN Give Back Initiative: We'll volunteer with NeighborLink Fort Wayne (nlfw.org), a fantastic organization that I've volunteered with for years and currently serve on the board of directors. NLFW provides tangible assistance to neighbors in need. Frequently, this takes the form of lightweight home improvement for the elderly, disabled, or victims-of-circumstances. Come serve Allen County's vulnerable neighbors!
Hobbies: Spending time with my wife/daughter/friends, volunteering, reading, backpacking, fishing, woodworking, tinkering, anything outdoors.
Career and future plans: I currently work remotely as a software architect/engineer for Disney, own a small startup (Donation Spring – donationspring.com), and run a tech consulting business focused on serving nonprofit orgs (3River Development – 3riverdev.com). No current plans to change any of that! :) And we absolutely plan to stay in Indiana.
Fun fact: I strive to emulate Ron Swanson
