Major: Integrated Communications - Advertising and Public Relations
Graduation year: Posey County - Mount Vernon High School '04, Butler University '08
Why Bryana decided to serve as a LSN Project Lead: I've been fortunate to be a part of the Lilly Scholars Network since it formed in 2006 and have remained involved in various roles and capacities. This organization is very close to my heart! The Give Back INitiative is a dream come true for me, and I can't wait to serve alongside other scholars in Johnson and Posey County.
Plans for the LSN Give Back Initiative: For Johnson County we are going to be volunteering with Rock the Block on Saturday, April 22 at Center Grove High School. Rock the Block offers a 10K (timed), 5K walk/run (family-friendly), and a free Kids Run. The event includes scenic courses, food, music, vendors, awards and giveaways. Proceeds benefit area trail projects and organizations serving youth and families of the Center Grove School Corporation area and Johnson County. For Posey County we are firming up the final details, but will likely be preparing a local playground for spring and summer fun!
Hobbies: I have 2 young, silly and active sons, so they are my favorite hobby. We love to seek out family fun and my 4-year-old is already active with various sports. Right now, I think his favorite is hockey! My husband is a football coach so we also support his team - the Broad Ripple Rockets. You'll often find my husband and me working concessions or traveling to a coaching clinic. Personally, I love adventure and seeking out new experiences and places to explore.
Employment: I worked in the fast-paced world of advertising with both small and large agencies for nearly 8 years, but recently flipped the script and took on some freelance marketing projects from home to enjoy more time with my boys and hold down the fort for my husband who is a teacher and nearly year-round football coach. I recently became an assistant publisher mom for Macaroni Kid-Johnson South Indy, and I also teach group fitness classes including Total Fit and Water Aerobics at our local Park and Rec.
Fun facts: I've lived in six different states. I had an incredible opportunity to travel abroad to Paris, London, Belfast and the English Lake District when I was in college. My husband and I serve in Children's Ministry at Emmanuel Church in Franklin, and I currently serve as the VP of Service for the Lilly Scholars Network, and coordinating the Give Back INitiative is a dream come true for me!
